Last night performing for the first time in NY, it was none other than I-Octane!! I was so excited. The performance was part of the Jamrock with Squeeze (From Link-Up Media) series. The doors opened at 7pm. I got there at approximately 745pm. Of course being on Jamaican time, that was still early lol. So we had some drinks and were entertained by the sounds of Kevin Crown and my friend Fatta Diamond of Stinga Movements. The vibes were definitely on point! We eagerly anticipated the man of the night. So much to my surprise as he entered the venue, I-Octane walked right by me. My shock and reflex, made me grab him without thinking. And I must say he was very cool about it. He flashed his winning smile. We all know that it could've gone any way, but he was humble and took it in stride. A true people person! About a half an hour after that it was SHOWTIME! There were some up and coming artists, Recruit from Sherlock and and artiste named Progress. Both did their thing, but the people were anxiously awaiting I-Octane himself. And he did not disappoint. He kept the crowd hype, with his string of hits, ranging from 'Lose a Friend', 'Study You Friend', 'Mama You Alone', 'Mine Who Dem a Diss', 'Puff It', and I could go on and on. I think he performed his entire catalogue. I just wanted to hear my favorite song right now, which is "Nuh Ramp Wid We" on the Bus Stop Riddim. When he performed that it was over!! Crazy vibes from start to finish. He even serenaded a female fan ( I must admit I was jealous lol) with 'Everytime You Touch Me'. I am sure every female in the house melted. After his show, I-Octane took pics with his countless fans. Again a testament to his good-hearted, and humble nature. I truly hope he stays that way. With that and his undeniable talent he is destined for greatness. And with that Smooches from Hotlipps and I-Octane lol.
