Bwoooy… Mi a tell you… the amount of Riddims coming out every week nuh mek sense… But what you gonna do… After careful review and sifting through the pile… I have found that the Overproof Riddim is one of the best riddims produced in recent months and quite possibly the year.
For a riddim to be classified as a good riddim it must contain a few key elements; The Riddim itself must be vibzy and inspire either dancing or listening… it can’t be too complex and there must be more than 2 or 3 songs on the riddim that can play. These are all true of the Overproof Riddim. It has Mavado’s hit Settle Down as well as great entries from Beenie Man, Khago, Demarco & Gyptian. It even allows Tifa to shine with her chune “Dash Out” which the ladies are sure to love. Although Mavado currently owns the Riddim, the second smash hit on the Riddim will mostly likely be Aidonia’s “Caribbean Girl”. JOP’s delivery on the riddim is proper and sure to get the women in a frenzy in the Dancehalls. Beenie Man’s hit “Let’s Go” is a great song but due to the lateness of the Riddims release, will probably be short lived due to the “Summer Vibes” of the lyrics.
In short, it’s the first riddim in a long while where I can honestly say its hard to predict which song will be better than the others. The majority of the chunes dem bad. Excellent job by JA Productions.
Now hopefully we can finally get a new riddim that’s worthy of voicing dub plates on… But I know that’s asking for too much…
RRRRRRRRRR
