It has finally been confirmed what many had speculated. After the Sting Poster Launch on Friday which was void of Mavado, it was confirmed that Mavado will not be performing at Sting this year. Isaiah Laing the promoter for the show said he reached out to Mavado's management, and didn't receive a response, and so the show must go on. Laing went on to say that there will be many other performers of interest, and that without a clash, he didn't think Mavado (or Kartel for that matter) by themselves would prove to be a big draw. I think that is a low blow. Mavado has had numerous hits this year, not to mention a strong fan base in Jamaica. Gully and Alliance fans will surely be disappointed. More and more Sting is sounding like a zzzzzzzz. However Laing says the emphasis will be on performance with strong entertainers like Lady Saw, Beenie Man, I-Octane, Sizzla and more. As an incentive a cash prize will be given to the artiste with the best performance. So stay tuned!
