Bob Marley died almost 30 years ago from cancer. That has always been the widely accepted reason. However his grandaughter Donisha Prendergast, suggests otherwise. While promoting her documentary Rasta: A Soul's Journey, which chronicles the history of Rastafarianism, and its evolution in Jamaica and worldwide, Prendergast spoke openly about her beliefs. In an interview with the The Voice, Prendergast alludes to the powerful position her grandfather held prior to his death. She believes that Bob Marley was poisoned by "political interests who feared his outspokenness to educate the masses about the Babylon system." She claims that this is typically what happens to our leaders. Bob Marley was clearly the most iconic musical figure from Jamaica and no one has yet to reach the acclaim he has had thus far. To date, Marley has had almost $300 Million in album sales. Prendergast continues to promote her documentary which she hopes will open the eyes of outsiders to Rastafari and its influences.
