Grammy Nominees were announced last night and as usual it has caused quite a stir. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will take place on February 13, 2011 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The eligibility period for the 2011 Grammys are between September 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010. Nominees for Reggae album are "Before the Dawn," Buju Banton "Isaacs Meets Isaac," Gregory Isaacs & King Isaac "Revelation," Lee "Scratch" Perry "Made In Jamaica," Bob Sinclair And Sly & Robbie "One Pop Reggae +," Sly & Robbie and the Family Taxi "Legacy An Acoustic Tribute to Peter Tosh," Andrew Tosh.
As noticed Gyptian who was presumably the crowd favorite was not nominated. This is surprising but not so much, since "Dancehall" music rarely gets noticed at these awards. Despite his recent legal troubles,and the protests of gay activists worldwide, Buju Banton's undeniable talent prevails. He manages to get a nomination. It may be between him and the late Gregory Isaacs, who could posthumously take the award. We'll see!
